It’s time for the 70th Primetime Emmy Awards, and in the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles two entertainment forces are facing off. In one corner is established TV powerhouse HBO, which has 29 different Emmy nominations for shows like Westworld, Silicon Valley, Game of Thrones, and Insecure. In the other is Netflix, with a whopping 37 total nominations this evening, covering shows like Black Mirror, Stranger Things, GLOW, and The Crown. 2018 actually marks the first year that Netflix has ever bested the darling of premium cable in nominations — ending a 17-year streak in the process.
