Laptops – Dell Labor Day sale: up to $700 off Vostro, Inspiron, XPS and Alienware
It’s a very, very close call between HP, Best Buy, Walmart, and other leading retailers, but Dell is our top pick for this year’s best Labor Day laptop sale. A couple of recommendations in particular include this excellent Inspiron 15 for $379, which is the perfect cheap back-to-school laptop, and the stunning Dell XPS 13 for just $849. This latter deal is one of the lowest prices we’ve seen yet on the latest XPS 13, and a great opportunity to save money on one of the best laptops around. 

Back to school – Amazon: save up to $170 on tablets and laptops
Amazon’s got back-to-school deals on everything from electronics and backpacks to stationery, clothing and college essentials like cookware and mattresses. Its back to school sale is updated on a daily basis, with next day Prime delivery avaliable. Highlights include up to 22% off Amazon’s own-brand Fire tablets and the retailer’s range of cheap gaming laptops, which are well-suited both to gaming and college work.

Mattresses – DreamCloud Labor Day sale: $200 off luxury hyrbid mattresses + $599 free gifts

There are some awesome TV deals available in the Labor Day deals – not least at Amazon and Walmart – but it’s Best Buy that gets our recommendation if you’re shopping on a budget. It’s not just own-brand TVs on sale either, you’ll also find some fantastic prices on TCL, Hisense, LG, and Toshiba displays, among many other decent budget brands.

Major appliances – Samsung Labor Day sale: up to $1,200 off washers and dryer sets
Home Depot, Lowes, and Best Buy are just a few of the big-name retailers offering extremely competitive Labor Day appliance sales this year but we’d highlight Samsung as a great option too. It’s a lesser-known retailer compared to the others, but it offers an extended warranty, prices and bundles that are just as good as the other stores, plus an awesome design-your-own bespoke appliance feature. Tired of boring-looking appliances? Add custom colors and materials to your new refrigerator, microwave, or range. 

Apple – Best Buy Labor Day sale: up to $350 off MacBooks and iPads
Best Buy has a number of excellent Labor Day deals on Apple devices. Currently, our top picks are the slightly older (but still amazing) MacBook Pro M1 for $949.99 (was $1,299), and the standard Apple iPad 10.2 for just $279.99 (was $329). Both these prices are the lowest we’ve seen for each model respectively. This sale at Best Buy is looking like the perfect chance to pick up an upgrade before heading back to school or college. At the very least, it’s likely to be the cheapest Apple prices this side of Black Friday.

Sportswear – Nike end of summer sale: save 40% on running shoes and fitness gear
While not officially labeled a Labor Day sale, Nike’s current sale has a wide range of savings on sports and lifestyle gear. With fall closing in, it’s a great time to browse over-3,400 items that are on sale at Nike, from T-shirts and sneakers to joggers and more.

Floorcare – Walmart Labor Day sale: save up to 50% on Shark and Ionvac vacuums
Whether you’re looking for a super-cheap cordless vacuum or an advanced robo vacuum that will do all the work for you, Walmart’s Labor Day savings are a great place to start. A couple of highlights include the Shark Navigator upright vacuum for $98 (was $199) and the Ionvac SmartClean V4 for just $155 (was $399), both of which are around half price and offer fantastic value.

Outdoor cooking – Home Depot: save up to $200 on grills
A Labor Day classic – no roundup would be complete without some great deals on outdoor grills and barbeques. Home Depot in particular is one to check out, especially as a couple of the pricier grills have already sold out so if you leave it too long all the best deals could slip away. There are still plenty of cheaper options, though, such as this Nexgrill 4-burner for $199 (was $249) and this Char-Griller 3-burner for $199 (was $249).

High-end TVs – Samsung Labor Day sale: save up to $1,620 on the best TVs
Samsung’s Labor Day sale has some of the lowest prices we’ve ever seen on some of the best TVs you can buy. The biggest discounts – up to $1,620 – are reserved for the largest and most premium displays. But you’ll find options as low as $799 for the excellent Q70A series, which strikes a fine balance between premium specs and quality and a reasonable price.
