We’re back with another update to our guide to the best MacBook deals available this week. Even though Apple’s premium ultrabooks are rarely discounted outside of major sales events, you can usually find a few small savings at some retailers and on certain models. Today’s best prices are listed below, including some of the best price cuts we’ve seen on the MacBook Air and the latest MacBook Pro models.
If you’re looking for the cheapest MacBook available to buy today, you’ll want to check out the MacBook Air. It may not be down to some of the lowest prices ever, but you can find some strong discounts – particularly on the larger 1TB version.
Some of the most exciting MacBook deals, though, are available on the latest 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro. Those in the US will want to head to Amazon where you can get the 14-inch MacBook Pro with a 1TB SSD for its lowest price yet. Meanwhile, in the UK, both the 14-inch and 16-inch displays have had their prices slashed. The larger screen is worth highlighting in particular as it’s just been given a big £250 saving at Amazon.
That’s all for now. We’ll be back to update this hub regularly with all the latest cheap MacBook deals, so you can pick up a luxury laptop for less. If you decide you need something more flexible, you can always take a look at the best iPad deals too. Or, if your budget doesn’t stretch to one of these machines, our hub dedicated to all the best cheap laptop deals on offer this week is worth to look.
We’ve also got a look at more discounted Apple tech including the best Apple Watch deals, all the cheapest AirPods deals and top Apple Pencil deals.
This week’s best MacBook deals
Where you’re in the US or the UK, you’ll find the week’s best MacBook deals just below. We’ve picked out the best prices across the full range of models and specifications so you can find the ideal ultrabook to suit your needs and budget.
Best MacBook deals in the US
MacBook Air (2020) (M1, 256GB): $999 $949 at Amazon
Save $50 – There’s a standard $50 saving on the latest MacBook Air with Apple’s powerful M1 chip at Amazon this week. After the big price cut to $749 over Black Friday, discounts like this are a little underwhelming, but it’s unlikely we’ll see anything so significant until the next big sales event. With delivery delayed until late March, too, patience might be required for a while until one of the better discounts returns.
MacBook Air (2020) (M1, 512GB): $1,249 $1,049.99 at Amazon
Save $200 – There’s an even bigger saving available right now on the MacBook Air with a larger 512GB SSD at Amazon. The price displayed on the store page is not with the full discount as another $112 is taken off at the checkout. It’s a return to the lowest price we’ve seen for this model and a worthwhile upgrade if you want to double your storage for less. Note: this MacBook deal currently only applies to the Rose Gold version.
MacBook Pro 13-inch (2020) (M1, 512GB): $1,499 $1,299 at Amazon
Save $200 – The 2020 Apple MacBook Pro with a larger 512GB SSD is back to its cheapest ever price this week thanks to an additional discount that will be applied at the checkout. The last time it was this low was back in early January – and, in fact, this is a return to the deal price we saw over Black Friday.
Apple MacBook Pro 14-inch (2021) (M1 Pro, 1TB): $2,389.95 $2,249.99 at Amazon
Save $140 – Here’s yet another coupon that’s applied at the checkout to reduce the latest 14-inch MacBook Pro to its lowest price yet – $50 more than the previous record low. This version comes with the powerful M1 Pro chip and a larger 1TB SSD that give you an extremely high-performance device. Altogether, it’s one of the week’s best MacBook deals.
MacBook Pro 13-inch (2020) (M1, 256GB): $1,299 $1,199 Amazon
Save $100 – After falling to as low as $1,049 at the start of November, the 256GB version of the 2020 MacBook Pro is now back up to $1,199 at Amazon. That’s the standard price it tends to sit at when not on offer so there are bound to be better deals in the future.
MacBook Pro 16-inch (2021, 512GB): $2,499 $2,299 at Amazon
Save $200 – This $200 saving on the latest 16-inch MacBook Pro is the largest yet on Apple’s 2021 ultrabook. With an upgraded M1 Pro chip, you get one of the most high-performance laptops for your money that’s a terrific choice for creative professionals. It simply hasn’t been any cheaper since its launch in October.
MacBook Pro 14-inch (2021) (M1 Pro, 512GB): for $1,999 $1,949 at Amazon
Save $50 – It’s not huge but there’s still a saving on the latest MacBook Pro model this week. Apart from one or two brief reductions, all major retailers have held the price at $1,999 for the entry-level version since launch so any discount is a bonus right now. Considering this range of ultrabooks just launched a couple of months ago it’s not all that surprising it’s just $50 off. We don’t think you’ll see a bigger price cut for quite some time yet.

MacBook Air (2020) (M1, 256GB): £999 £887 at Currys
Save £112 – This slightly odd price cut on the powerful M1 MacBook Air is available from Currys this week. It’s only a little way short of the drop to £849 we saw almost half a year ago, so a really solid MacBook deal – all things considered. It is also in stock at Amazon but there’s a wait of up to two months there. If you want to buy there, you could just spend an extra £2 more to get either of the other colours with immediate delivery instead.
MacBook Air (2020) (M1, 512GB): £1,249 £1,099.97 at Amazon
Save £149 – This is the best discount we’ve spotted on the MacBook Air with a larger 512GB SSD since last October. It doesn’t beat the cheapest price ever, but it’s only shy by a little under £60. At this price, it’s definitely an upgrade worth considering if you would prefer to have additional storage.
MacBook Pro 13-inch (2020, 256GB): £1,299 £1,149.97 at Amazon
Save £141 – This MacBook Pro model stayed at its cheapest price of £1,129 for almost half a year and while it’s now gone up in price, it’s not by much. A good saving, then, if you’re happy to get a slightly smaller and older MacBook Pro that still has the power of the M1 chip inside it.
MacBook Pro 14-inch (2021, 512GB): £1,899 £1,799 at Amazon
Save £100 – Apple’s latest ultrabook is back to its cheapest ever price that we previously saw over Black Friday but you’ll need to wait a while for delivery. It’s a small discount, sure, but we’ll take it given the 2021 MacBook Pro only launched in October last year. This version comes with the powerful M1 Pro chip, 8GB of RAM and a 512GB SSD – all high-end components that will give creative professionals the performance they need in one of the best laptops you can buy today.
MacBook Pro 16-inch (2021, 512GB): £2,399 £2,149.97 at Amazon
Save £249 – There was a good saving on the larger 16-inch MacBook Pro last week, but now it’s reduced by a further £30 right now to make a new record low. Featuring the all-new M1 Pro chip this is a high-performance ultrabook that is a top pick for demanding users and creative professionals. A £250 saving might be relatively small, but it’s reasonable considering this new MacBook Pro only launched in October.
MacBook Air deals
If you’re after a performance boost, but still need a lightweight form factor, the new MacBook Air M1 might be your best bet. While there’s a serious performance boost in this model, you’re not paying as much for it as you may think. In fact, we’ve seen some great MacBook deals over recent months that suggest Apple certainly isn’t afraid to discount this model every now and then.
The new M1 chip gives Intel a serious run for its money and battery life doesn’t even suffer for it. Plus, you get it all for the same price as the previous model, which makes this the go-to MacBook right now.
MacBook Pro deals
Creative professionals will find a lot to like with the MacBook Pro 14-inch (2021). It’s a compact and powerful laptop that comes with a considerable number of ports so you can finally leave all those dongles and hubs in the drawer. With the latest M1 Pro chip at its core, it offers some incredibly fine-tuned performance that takes it leaps and bounds above the competition. The battery life impresses, too, while the screen is one of Apple’s best yet – a crisp Liquid Retina XDR display featuring mini-LED technology.
For the general user, this device is probably a touch overkill, both in terms of power and price. Those still looking to jump onto the Apple ecosystem but don’t need quite as much performance and features would be better to consider the MacBook Air or even a iPad .
When it comes to top tier laptops the MacBook Pro 16-inch (2021) simply can’t be beat right now. Apple’s massive redesign of the 2019 MacBook Pro comes with a substantial boost in power with the M1 Pro or M1 Max chip, a stunning mini-LED display and a host of other most-wanted new features.
Those who want a more static workstation will appreciate the jump up to a 16-inch screen, though the 14-inch is a lot better for portability. It’s also substantially cheaper, too, so those who don’t need all the excessive power and are on a smaller budget will do just as well going for the smaller version.
The new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models are now available, which means you’ll want to decide whether you go for a potentially cheaper price point with this previous generation device or pay extra for the stark performance upgrade with Apple’s latest M1 Pro and Max chips. We’ve already seen some decent price cuts on this 13-inch MacBook Pro over recent months, so it’s definitely one to consider if you’re on a tighter budget.
You won’t compromise too much, either, as it’s still powered by the standard M1 chip. That’s a considerable boost over older models that used Intel processors. So, you still get a seriously powerful machine here, with a design that’s very similar from the outside, at a price point that even manages to undercut other high-end ultrabooks in terms of value.
MacBook deals: FAQs
Got any questions about all these MacBook deals before you go ahead with a purchase? We’ve answered all the most common ones below and will continue to add to this section over time.
How to find the best MacBook deals
MacBook deals are hard to come by for a reason – these machines last. That means Apple rarely discounts its older laptop lines with new generations, so it’s harder to find that standout price if you’re willing to swallow a few years on the market.
That doesn’t mean you’re stuck with launch prices, however. In fact, MacBook sales are fairly common around certain times of the year, and do generally fall in line with new releases. While you might not find major discounts on cheaper entry level models, those shopping for the more specced out lines can enjoy some significant price drops around the holidays and major Apple launch windows.
Is it worth buying a pre-2020 MacBook?
We’ll say it again, MacBooks last. Many 2019 MacBook Pros are still running healthy to this day, though you might struggle to cram the latest MacOS releases onto them. But we’ll say something else again, cheap MacBooks don’t tend to lose their value. That means you can easily spend $1,000 on a MacBook from before 2020 and miss out on the latest processors, RAM upgrades, hardware features, and SSD storage sizes of the newer models that sit at similar prices.
That means if you do spot a particularly good MacBook deal on an older or refurbished model, it may well be worth your time. If you find yourself shopping between the $1,300 and $2,000 mark, however, double-check you can’t pick up something newer for the same price.
What to look for in MacBook sales
MacBook sales tend to offer creepingly reduced prices on the entry level Air and Pro models while reserving the big drops for the more expensive configurations. While these deals tend to stick around the same sale prices every time they are reduced, keen shoppers will notice that traditional discount does grow a little every now and then. That will knock an extra $50 off the price sporadically in order to make headlines, but it also means that if you spot a particularly good MacBook deal it’s not worth sticking around and waiting for a better sale in the future.
It’s worth shopping older models if you’re looking to score a more impressive price drop, as retailers are keen to shift these units before any big release. Shop these MacBook deals if you’re after a bigger spec in particular, as you’ll often find the older mid-range models offering bigger power than entry level fresh releases for either the same price or slightly less.
However, it’s always worth keeping one eye on the prices of those latest versions. As we’ve learned with the 2020 MacBook Air, Apple is looking to make the MacBook more cost effective moving forwards. That means you might be able to find MacBook deals offering entry level new releases for less than their ancestors.
